10 to Watch
The “10 to Watch” list builds on Slingshot’s history of showcasing innovative ideas and investing in positive change. Unlike The Slingshot Guide -- a former signature project -- the criteria for ‘10 to Watch’ applicants is more narrowly defined. The list will feature young organizations and projects that we hope will capture funders’ attention for their fresh approaches to a current and timely need. We believe these projects are poised to enrich the Jewish future.
Applicants must represent an organization or a project of an organization that:
Serves a North American audience. Global organizations without significant North American activities, beyond fundraising, will not be considered. Fundraising within North America is not considered a significant activity for “10 to Watch.”
Has been actively in the field for a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 5 years. Ideas or plans are not eligible; you must be able to demonstrate that you have implemented programs.
Is not primarily focused on fundraising.
Offers a new, fresh idea for addressing a unique and relevant problem.
Organizations or projects that are primarily focused on fundraising are NOT eligible to apply.
Application Process and Deadlines
After creating an account, you will be asked to fill out an eligibility quiz, based on the requirements listed above. We will review your answers and notify you of the decision within a few business days. Applicants who qualify will then have access to the complete application, which also requires a financial document, and a list of three references.
All questions have a 300 word limit. Brevity is appreciated. In order to better help you prepare, you can find a PDF of all of the questions here.
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THE ELIGIBILITY QUIZ. The Eligibility Quiz must be completed by Wednesday, October 23rd at 5pm EST. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to submit as early as possible.
The Application must be completed by Tuesday, October 29th at 5pm EST.
Incomplete Applications: Please ensure that your application is fully completed by these deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If you have questions as to whether or not you have submitted fully, please email Rachel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Innovation: Addressing a very relevant, strong need in a fresh way. This applies to both what an initiative is doing and how they are doing it. A culture of perpetual risk taking and improvement is baked into their DNA.
Leadership in the Field: Applicants are a model for the field. They may possess a strategy, an approach, or programmatic content that could be replicable elsewhere and/or that is elevating the work of its peer organizations.

Excellence in Execution
Diverse people, or pockets of the Jewish community, find it meaningful and relevant.

These individuals are young, Jewish philanthropists and foundation professionals who come from a diversity of backgrounds, life experiences, and expertise. The reviewers are likely are not experts in your geographic area, field, etc. so we encourage you to use your application to educate them.
